About this project:

This piece was adapted from a project I was working on shortly before joining the jam. The melody and chord progressions were established, but a fair bit of work went into shaping the project with this jam in mind 🙂 (the vibe, instrumentation, groove etc was quite different in my original project)

I envisioned this as an area loop during exploration of the forest, went for an 8-bit/chiptune kinda of vibe. I looped it once to get a feel for it. ABAB structure (in the DAW screenshot it is labelled AC, there was another section that I removed from the original project). The second AB is the same as the first, just wanted to demonstrate the loop.

I'll post the originally-intended project at some point, but this was a fun little thematic detour 🙂

Technical:

• Made in Cubasis 3 for Android (mobile DAW). Stock instrument samples (harp, pizzicato strings, percussion) and the built-in two osc synth/arp (sound design elements, bass). I don't have access to amazing libraries/patches so I like to lean into it!
• 4/4. 90 bpm. D Maj (with some spooky chromatic tones and subtle detuning/beating of course!)
• There is some noise and distortion in places, this is from a limiter and bitcrusher on the master to help emulate a subtle retro feel... it's not perfect, I was just playing around)
